ROOTED IN COMMUNITY. SHAPED BY SERVICE.
Kevin's story begins in Rocky Mount with family, community, and an early understanding that opportunity comes with a responsibility to serve.
Raised largely on Rocky Mount's south side by working-class parents, Kevin became the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a degree in Safety Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. His education led to more than a decade of service with the United States government, working in transportation, infrastructure, safety, and public policy. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of how government works, how public investments move from planning to implementation, and how communities position themselves for opportunity.
Kevin's service at home has spanned healthcare, higher education, housing, economic development, business, and youth development. He has served as a UNC Health hospital commissioner, North Carolina Wesleyan University trustee, Nash Community College trustee, Rocky Mount Housing Authority commissioner, entrepreneur, coach, mentor, and community advocate.
Different roles. Different responsibilities. The same commitment to service.
For Kevin, leadership has never been defined by a title. It's defined by the work in bringing people together, solving problems, opening doors for others, and taking responsibility for what comes next.

“Fresh ideas, energetic leadership, with a proven record of service...”
INVESTING IN PEOPLE. BUILDING WHAT COMES NEXT.
Kevin's commitment to Rocky Mount is reflected in what he has chosen to invest here --- his time, resources, experience, and energy. As an entrepreneur, he has built and grown successful businesses, created local jobs, and turned ideas into investments that contribute to the local economy. That same approach carries into his community service: recognizing opportunities, connecting people with resources, and doing the work to turn ideas into results.
In 2014, Kevin founded the BAC Scholarship Fund to expand educational opportunities for young people. Since then, the organization has provided more than $250,000 in scholarships, technology, and educational support.
Beyond those financial investments, Kevin has devoted countless hours to helping young people recognize and reach their potential. On football fields, in schools, through mentoring programs, and in one-on-one conversations, he has helped connect young people with the colleges, careers, relationships, and experiences that can open doors to their futures.
Those experiences have shaped a simple conviction: Our future will be determined not only by what we build, but by who we prepare to lead.
As a husband and father, that conviction is personal. Kevin understands that the decisions made today will shape the neighborhoods, schools, opportunities, and quality of life that our children and future generations inherit. It's a responsibility that guides both his service to the community and his commitment to the city he calls home.
Kevin sees tremendous strength in Rocky Mount's people, institutions, and rich history, as well as our unique position connecting Eastern North Carolina to the Triangle. He believes those strengths provide a foundation for what comes next --- protecting what makes Rocky Mount home, strengthening the connections that move our community forward, and pursuing opportunities that allow more people to share in our city's progress.
For Kevin, Rocky Mount is more than where his story began. It's where he continues to invest in what comes next.
